Lupins are an extremely hardy perennial plant well suited to cold climate areas. Excellent in cottage situations, borders or in pots or tubs.
In late Spring through Summer, stunning upright spikes appear carrying cylindrical pea-style flowers, up to 100 individual buds on each stem. The flowers range in a variety of colours including white, orange, blue, pink, yellow, cream, burgundy, purple and bicolour flowers. The buds open upwards.
Russell Lupins require a full sun to part shade position in the garden that has well drained humus rich soil. Plan where you are going to plant them as it grows a long tap root and does not like to be moved from its original position.
