Autumn Gentians are highly prized for their spectacular blue to purple flowers in late summer to autumn. Plants are low-growing, with fresh green foliage forming a creeping mound, bearing large upfacing trumpet flowers for many weeks. Gentians grow best in rich, acidic soils, preferring climates with cool summers. Excellent edging plants for the border, in the rock garden or alpine trough. Good orange fall foliage colour.
