Clematis tangutica, commonly called golden clematis, is a vigorous yellow-flowered climbing vine. Golden bells (4cm) proliferate on this vigorous climber from summer to autumn, they even have a soft, sweet scent. These are followed by whimsical, fluffy seed heads that remain ornamental into winter. You can grow it up a support or tree, or let it scramble along the ground. It is also less fussy about soil than most Clematis and will grow in pretty much any that is well drained.
Pruning is simple for Clematis tangutica, just cut them back to around 20cm in early spring, flowers on new wood.
